This project has been both challenging and a ton of fun to work on. The concept for this glorious butterfly gun is done by the fabulous Maeve B (whose concepts I love so much, I wish I had the time to recreate all of them). This is probably the longest I’ve spent texturing on a single project yet. Maeve’s style is beautiful and rather challenging for me to imitate, but I learned a lot from trying to recreate it (I especially learned that I hate drawing coral with a passion). I think the hardest part though was the butterfly wing elements. I redid those many times and even now I’m not fully satisfied with how they turned out. The wood handle was another hard one that took a fair amount of time and redoes to get done properly, but I think it turned out pretty nice. I’m incredibly happy with the metal detail. I love working with colored metals, especially more tarnished ones like the gold/bronze in this. Overall though I’m very happy with how this turned out and would love to try my hand at the other guns in the collection at some point.
